How is billing structured for bespoke work?

Monthly invoicing against milestone estimates agreed in the SoW. You see a breakdown of hours and activities. No surprise invoices.

Can I engage on a single package and expand?

Absolutely. Many clients start with a Design Review or DFM package to validate our work, then move to a longer bespoke engagement. No lock-in on either side.

What do I need to prepare for the first call?

Nothing formal. A brief description of what you're building and what you're trying to solve is plenty. We'll guide the conversation from there.
